Reflective paracord, 7 strand, supplied as a 100 ft hank — 5/32" orange cord with a reflective tracer running its length. Rated to a 220 lb working load and a 550 lb breaking point. Stocked as the general-purpose line in emergency response and site-safety kits, where a cord that can be seen at night is worth more than a cord that is merely strong.
What it is
One hundred feet of 5/32" cord in high-visibility orange, with a reflective tracer woven along its length so the line picks up torchlight, headlamps and vehicle headlights after dark. The core is seven strands. The package states a working load of 220 lbs and a breaking point of 550 lbs.
The orange colour does the work in daylight; the tracer does it at night. Between them, a line that would otherwise be an invisible trip hazard across a staging area becomes something a responder can see before walking into it.
Where it fits in a workplace program
Cordage is the part of a kit nobody specifies and everybody uses. In an emergency response or site safety program this hank typically covers:
- Guying a tarp, shelter or signage in a staging area
- Marking a route, a boundary or a hazard where tape is too fragile to last the shift
- Securing loads and equipment on a cart, trailer or vehicle
- Hanging a lamp, radio or kit bag off the ground
- Improvised lashing during set-up and tear-down
Because it is visible in both daylight and torchlight, it suits work that continues after dark — night shifts, evening drills, power-out conditions — better than plain cord does.

What it is not for
This is utility cord. It is not life-safety equipment and must never be used for climbing, rappelling, fall arrest, rescue loading, or anything else that puts a person's weight on the line. The 550 lb figure on the package is a breaking point measured on new, undamaged cord, not a safe working figure — the package's own working load is 220 lbs, and knots, abrasion, age and sharp edges all reduce it further. If a task needs rated life-safety rope, use rated life-safety rope.
We make no military-specification claim for this cord. The package does not carry one, so neither do we.

Frequently asked questions
What does the reflective tracer actually do? A reflective thread runs the length of the cord, so it returns torchlight, headlamp light and vehicle headlights back toward whoever is shining them. In daylight the orange colour is what you see; after dark the tracer is. It does not glow on its own and needs a light source to work.
Can this cord be used for climbing or rescue? No. This is utility cord and is not life-safety equipment. Never use it for climbing, rappelling, fall arrest, or any load that includes a person. The package lists hiking, camping and emergency use. Where a task requires rated life-safety rope, use rated life-safety rope instead.
What is the difference between the 220 lb and 550 lb figures? The package states 220 lbs as the working load and 550 lbs as the breaking point. The breaking point is where new, undamaged cord fails in a pull test. The working load is the figure to plan against. Knots, abrasion, age and sharp edges all reduce real capacity below both numbers.
How long is the cord and how thick? One hundred feet, supplied as a single hank, at 5/32" thickness with a seven-strand core. It is the standard diameter for this class of cord, so it runs through common cord locks, grommets and tarp eyelets without modification.
Is this mil-spec paracord? We do not claim it is. The package carries no military specification marking, so we do not print one. What the package does state is 100 ft, 5/32" thickness, a seven-strand core, a 220 lb working load and a 550 lb breaking point — and those are the figures the product is sold on.
Do you sell it by the case? The case is twenty-four hanks. Case quantities are available to account customers; contact us for case pricing and current lead time rather than ordering twenty-four singles, which will not price correctly.
